Summer Learning Resources for Students and Parents
Summer Reading Letter from the Supt.
Dear Students and Families,
Books can take your imagination to faraway places, on fantastic adventures, or back in time. You can learn about new things, meet new characters, and experience other cultures when you read. Reading can be relaxing, fun and rewarding - we know that people become better readers by reading!
This summer, we want you to take some time to read an exciting book of your choice. You can either enjoy the book on your own or read it with a grown-up.
As the summer months begin, we would like to invite you to participate in a variety of summer activities that offer students with choices to explore reading, science, and math - both indoors and outside. Summer reading provides opportunities to maintain the reading skills that have been learned throughout the school year. Opportunities to read over the summer not only enhance basic reading skills, they create unique opportunities for learning, exploring and growing. Summer reading provides students with more free time to explore books without the pressures of assignments, providing opportunities to explore new books and develop a love for reading!
This year, the 91桃色入口 Enlarged City School District is celebrating the New York State Libraries summer reading theme “Libraries Rock!” Children and teens participating in the program receive book recommendations and engage in creative and fun educational activities at their local libraries.

How many books can all K-5 students read this summer? The District is challenging all K-5 students to participate in the District’s 1,000 book challenge. The goal is for K-5 students to read 1,000 books across the District. Students who participate and submit book logs will be awarded a certificate. We are asking students to record their reading adventures by entering information about the book through an electronic link .
Additionally, there are many wonderful summer reading initiatives that are sponsored by a variety of organizations. Please see the District website in case your child is interested.
Enjoy a safe and restful summer! Happy reading!
