Balmville Scholars Present Collaborative Research to their Peers and Families
Balmville scholars worked together to support one another in understanding science concepts, nonfiction text features, and what a formal presentation style should look and sound like. The scholars paired up and selected an animal to conduct research on. After selecting an animal, they enjoyed collaborating on learning about the life cycle, habitats, and adaptations of the animal. There were a lot of great discussions among the students on the various information that they read about.
After supporting one another in building background knowledge on the animal, students created a poster board presentation to display what they learned. Students applied their understanding by writing nonfiction books, which included nonfiction text features. They presented their research to their peers and families.
