New Windsor School Scholars and Educators Commit to Being Kind
Celebrating Kindness while participating in the school-wide focus on celebrating Kindness during the two designated Kindness weeks, (No Name-Calling Week and The Great Kindness Challenge), students and staff committed to be kind by signing the “Commit to be Kind” poster in the main hallway. Along with signing the poster, students and staff also participated in a spirit week, dressing up each day to show their commitment. Other activities included earning “Kindful and Mindful” tickets, writing “More and Less” poems about how kindness can overcome hostility, a checklist encouraging kind acts, and the students in grades 4 and 5 created a collaborative “Mindful Mountain” landscape using multi-colored painter’s tape along the main hallways. Through these exercises, we got students talking about how being mindful is important for focus in school and how it feels good to be kind and helpful to one another. It was a collaborative effort and the students really loved working together. Story by Mrs. Caci - School Psychologist Special Thanks to Mrs. Caci, Mr. Michalek, and Ms. DeForest
