Meadow Hill GEM School Hosts Patria Latina
Patria Latina is an event held at Meadow Hill GEM School in lieu of Cinco de Mayo. The event is in celebration of biculturalism and the many bilingual students from different Spanish-speaking countries. Scholars and teachers are able to highlight their hard work from throughout the schoolyear. Families are invited to witness the culmination of what their scholars worked on in their classrooms and within the school. The students showcased songs, dance, plays and poetry from Spanish-speaking countries. Families were invited to bring traditional dishes from their countries to share with all of the attendees. Students came dressed in colors and outfits customary to their countries.
Patria Latina is a great way to bring the school year to a close and encourage family-school connections within the community. It also provides a space to display the wide-range of talents in Meadow Hill's bilingual community. We embrace our bicultural community everyday.
