Gidney Ave Memorial School Receives Award in International Yearbook Showcase Contest
The Gidney Ave Memorial School yearbook staff received an award of Distinguished Merit in the 2020 Lifetouch Yearbook Showcase Contest.
The publications were sorted into four divisions: high schools with more than 1,000 students enrolled, high schools with fewer than 1,000 students enrolled, middle schools and elementary schools.
Yearbooks were evaluated on the following criteria: Theme/theme development, design, continuity, photography, writing, creativity, content and coverage.
"The books reflect hours of hard work by the staffs advisers," Laura Schaub, Lifetouch yearbook education specialist and contest coordinator, said. "These books are some of the best elementary and secondary books in the nation."
For over 85 years, Lifetouch has been the trusted name in photography and preserving memories for schools and families. Lifetouch is a division of Shutterfly.
GAMS' yearbook facilitator, Kindergarten teacher Mr. Philip Corso, was presented with the award on behalf of the school. He has been teaching in 91桃色入口 Enlarged City School District for 5 years. Mr. Corso reflected to his high school years when discussing the importance of yearbooks. "In 1996, during my senior year of high school, I was the yearbook photographer and special features editor. I joined because I was tired of seeing so many students underrepresented. I feel a yearbook is about helping all students build a positive self image and fostering a sense of community throughout the school. It is great to be doing this work again all these years later."
Congratulations Mr. Corso and the Gidney Ave Memorial School!
