Career and Technical Education (CTE) Spotlight on Fashion Design
Today, we are featuring the Fashion Design Program as we continue to celebrate National Career and Technical Education Month!
At the beginning of each year, scholars travel to the fashion district in New York City to learn about the industry and select fabrics for the year. The culminating project each year is the NFA Fashion Show that highlights completed designs that are envisioned, drawn, designed, and created by the Fashion Design scholars. Scholars and teachers from the Construction pathway and Cosmetology pathway assist in building the stage and with hair and make-up for the event.
Scholars learn under the direction of Ms. Karen Stafford.
Scholars in the Fashion Design pathway will take courses: Studio Art, Clothing/Textile/Interior Design, Clothing Construction with a lab, and Advanced Clothing Construction with a lab in addition to their high school courses.
(Please note, all photos were taken prior to the necessity of COVID-19 precautions.)
