Virtual iReady Diagnostic for K-8 Scholars
January 2021
Dear Goldback families,
Scholars in grades K - 8 will take the January administration of the iReady Diagnostic virtually to
measure their growth from the beginning of the year. Scholars take the iReady Diagnostic
independently without adult support. The results show their teachers what they learned and
what they are ready to learn in reading and math. The teachers use this information to plan
instruction based on individual student needs. The i-Ready Diagnostic can help our educators
gather this information for each child, but only if scholars give their best effort.
Your child will receive information from their teachers on the day and time they will take the
diagnostic. The diagnostic is scheduled for the week of January 11th. We ask for your
assistance in ensuring your child is able to give their best effort without adult support. Here are
some suggested ways to assist with preparing them for the fall iReady Diagnostic.
鈼 Provide a quiet space for your child to take the diagnostic
鈼 Confirm the technology is working (charged chromebook)
鈼 Motivate by explaining to your scholar(s) that doing their best will help teachers better
know what they are ready to learn
鈼 Supervise, but do not help by encouraging your child(ren) to do their best without helping
them with answers
Please familiarize yourself to the Diagnostic and how to best support
your child.
As explained in the video we do not expect your child to get all the questions correct and it is
important we can identify what they already know and need to learn without the assistance of an
adult or sibling. We greatly appreciate your partnership in ensuring scholars show what they
know on the diagnostic. Please reach out to your child's teacher if there are any additional
questions or concerns.
Through the work of all,
Ms. Andrea Moriarty
Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Curriculum and Instruction
Mr. Christopher Bayer
Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Curriculum and Instruction
