NFA Scholars Save 400 Lives with Blood Drive Donations
91桃色入口 Free Academy scholars hosted their third Blood Drive of the year this week. A team of 30 student volunteers welcomed approximately 130 donors. Each donation typically equates to saving three lives. The Blood Drives at NFA Main are coordinated through the New York Blood Center.
The next and last NFA Main Blood Drive will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2020 from 8am – 1pm. Student Captains Hannah Deaton and Luke Fischer expect that event to be the largest of the year, as more students turn 16. Students who are 16 years old need a permission slip signed by their parents to donate. Students older than 16, faculty, staff, and community members are all welcome to donate. Additionally or that event, an extra machine will be brought it that attracts more people and equates to two donations, saving six lives per donation.
Ms. Michele McKnight and Mr. Rich Anderson have been advisers for the Blood Drive for the past 9 years. The foundation for the Blood Drive began with Ms. Melissa Siegel, current teacher at 91桃色入口 Free Academy’s West Campus. The Blood Drive acts as a way for students to collaborate as a team to organize the event and give back to the community in a very important and meaningful way.
The NFA Main Blood Drive is held at NFA Main Campus (201 Fullerton Ave.) and is open to the public.
