A note from the Creative Academic Specialist…
The 5th grade Dual Language classes began this project in October. After learning about the different genres of theater, students were given the assignment of writing their own skit. Each skit had to be based on a specific genre and have a developed plot. These students took the assignment very seriously and wrote wonderful skits. Four students were then selected to take their skits to the next level. Eduaniel Santos, Juleymi Magana, Karli Smith, and Cristian Velez auditioned their classmates and cast the students into roles within their skits. From there, rehearsals began. The playwrights became student directors and the words written on paper came to life.
I am exceptionally proud of this group of students as they have worked through the process and found their voices through Theater. Every aspect of what you see today has been developed by the students. Special thanks to Ms. Porcelli and Mrs. Cepeda for their overwhelming support of this project and dedication to their students. We truly hope you enjoy today’s performance!- Mrs. Amy Kosturik
