Fifth Grade students at GAMS Participate In SOAR Binder Transition Program
On September 9th, Fifth Grade students at GAMS participated in a Transition Program aligned with the American School Counseling Association standards focusing on organization, study skills and time management.
With the guidance of Counselor Patricia Lofaro and individual classroom teachers, scholars assembled their “SOAR” binders. These binders are set up specifically to help them keep track of assignments, notes and homework. Dr. Padilla stopped in to share his words of encouragement and the importance of organizational skills.
Mastering these organization, study and time management skills will be key to their transition to Middle School next year. Fifth Grade scholars will be learning to master these skills throughout the school year.
The “SOAR” binder system of organization is such a success that both Fostertown and New Windsor School will be implementing the program this year as well.
A special thank you to Sarah Donnatien of United Way for observing the program and from United Way for donating the supplies for all three schools.
