South Middle School Students Celebrate Third Annual Elephant Day
South Middle School students celebrated the third annual Elephant Day by hosting elephant themed activities geared toward raising money. Events included: a photo booth, coloring, nail paste stations, ring toss, pin the tusks on the elephant, bottle toss, feed he elephants, flip the poacher, and a craft table to create your own elephant. The group has donated the money raised, about $500, to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Half of the money went to the Trust to support their ranger and education programs, and the other half was used to adopt two elephants, who are living in the Trust's nursery in Nairobi, Kenya. For the next year, the students will receive monthly updates from the SWT on how our elephants are doing. This information is being shared with our school community .
Elephant Day is organized by Ms. Janet Bisti.
