Horizons-on-the-Hudson Students use 3D Printer for US Democracy & Symbols Project
Second graders in Sara Andrews Social Studies class were introduced to 3D modeling and printing for their unit on Democracy and US symbols with the help from HOH ITF teacher, Mr. Decker.
Earlier in the year the students had studied United States symbols and worked in groups to research these symbols and create unique paper mosaics. Next, students compared & contrast 2D models, photographs, and 3D models. The class learned all about 3D printers before using theirs to print out the 3d models of their symbols.
Students also completed a writing prompt to discuss how they could use 3D printers beyond Academy Field and how 3D printing could impact the future.
