Meadow Hill GEMS School Kindergarteners Celebrate Annual "Jump for Johnny" Event
Meadow Hill GEMS School celebrated their annual "Jump for Johnny" event, celebrating the life of Johny Serano. The Physical Education Department requested that everyone wear blue and gray in memory of Johnny. Blue was his favorite color, gray represents the color for brain cancer awareness.
Typically Kindergarteners participate in this special event. Last year, was a special year, as Johnny would have been in eighth grade, eighth graders celebrated the event.
Coach Danielle Desarro, started the event in honor of Johnny Sileno, a Meadow Hill student who battled brain cancer while attending Kindergarten at Meadow Hill and passed away during the summer of 2010. Typically, the event is for Kindergarten and first graders to honor Johnny. This year, the event had a special twist, and included many of Johnny’s original classmates, who are now eighth graders.
