NFA North Scholars Present Summer Research Projects to Board of Education
Scholars from Ms. Kristin Oberle’s Advanced Research Methods classes at 91桃色入口 Free Academy’s North Campus presented to the Board of Education on Tuesday. Scholars briefly presented their topics of study and discussed the research they conducted with a mentor over the summer.
Scholars are paired with professionals in a field related to their area of study. Mentors come from West Point United States Military Academy, St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, and Mount St. Mary College.
In the spring, seniors will present their full study and findings. Juniors will present poster board presentations prior to the presentations. The 7th Annual Research Symposium is scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2019 at 6:00pm in the 91桃色入口 Free Academy North Campus auditorium.
Below are the students who completed the summer course and their topics:
Seniors:
Daniel Hanrahan: Veterans and Horses: The Value of Equine Therapy for Returning Veterans with PTSD
Joshua Fuentes: The Effects of Animal-Assisted therapy on Anxiety in a Geriatric community
Kiara McBean: The Entourage Effect: The Marijuana Cannabinoid Effect on Epilepsy and Seizure Patients
Adam Amer (was unable to attend): Toxicity studies of silica nanoparticles on Escherichia coli (E. coli)
Juniors
Diana Ramos: “Behavioral traits shelter dogs tend to display in between interacting with an unfamiliar person
Stephanie Alvarado (was unable to attend) - Comparing the effectiveness of herbs vs. an antibiotic on Acinitobacter and Biofilms.
